Cavemen vs. NFL Players — Who’d win?

We all know the debate on who would win if Cavemen and Astronauts fought, and it’s an interesting controversy, pitting modern man against our former selves.

Someone asked me what if Cavemen fought against NFL players. Now that’s a tough one. Football players are big and strong, but they never had to survive with no resources out in the wild, and they don’t actually learn to fight other men; they play a game against them, rough as it is.

So it’s worth a pause for thought; maybe even if our troglodyte ancestors were smaller and maybe didn’t get as much protein as a football team stuffs into its craw every day, and all the health care that’s lavished on them, still the cavemen knew enough to fight dirty when it was possible. They had to face beasts that wanted to kill them; NFL athletes face other athletes who are paid to hurt them but not kill them. I’m leaning towards cavemen, obviously.

Maybe there could be a line on this. A book could include a funny proposition bet like the caveman versus the pro player. I’m going to check to see what unusual sorts of bets they have out, on the sportsbooks. I want some weird action!!

For ordinary games wagers that don’t include our dead ancestors, this is a pretty good football blog. Has lines and odds and a sort of primer on how to do it. Mostly links to Bovada, and a couple of other online sports books which aren’t the cheesy ones offering gigantic bonuses because their customer service and general operation sucks; these are recognized books that have been around a long time.

I used to know a man in New England who made his living from betting on sports. It made a kind of bumpy lifestyle for his wife, but he must have been good at it, because he had a very reasonable lifestyle from what I saw. He traveled, went ocean fishing, stuff like that.
